Southern Extreme Bull Riding Associatio - SEBRA

The was established in 1994 in Archdale, North Carolina.

According to Humps N Horns magazine it is one of the oldest continuously operated in existence.

SEBRA, although little known outside of the bull riding world; is a solid organization. Its members have held championship titles at every level of rodeo from professional to high school.

SEBRA was founded on the principle that quality is more important than quantity. The focus of the founding management was to provide an organization were cowboys could compete on fair ground against honest bucking bulls.

Annual profits from the organization are put back into producing the finals. Only top stock contractors and producers are selected to sanction SEBRA events. The professionalism of the productions can be seen in the selection of the contract acts, the quality of the bull fighters and in the efficiency of the back-pen operations.

New management promises to maintain these principles, but also plans to provide a platform that will allow the association to grow; by promoting the SEBRA name, the members, the contractors and the sponsors will benefit.

Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA)

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys (PRCA) was created almost by accident in 1936.

According to the PRCA, a group of cowboys walked out of a rodeo at the Boston Gardens to protest the actions of rodeo promoter W.T. Johnson, who refused to add the cowboys’ entry fees to the rodeo’s total purse.

Johnson finally gave in to the cowboys’ demands, and the successful “strike” led to the formation of the Cowboys’ Turtle Association.

The cowboys chose that name because, while they were slow to organize, when push finally came to shove, they weren’t afraid to stick their necks out to get what they wanted.

In 1945, the Turtles changed their name to the Rodeo Cowboys Association, and in 1975, the organization became the PRCA.

The PRCA staff consists of about 70 full-time employees, but grows to nearly 100 during the peak rodeo season. The PRCA headquarters, established in 1979 in Colorado Springs also houses the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy.

Inc. (PBR)

The WHO, WHAT, and WHERE of the Professional Bull Riders

Description: The Professional Bull Riders, Inc., was founded in 1992 by 20 accomplished bull riders who joined together and took a business risk to try make bull riding – the most popular event in traditional rodeo – into a stand-alone sport. Each rider chipped in $1,000 to help launch his dream of someday seeing bull riders recognized as mainstream professional athletes.

As of April 23, 2007, Spire Capital Partners, L.P., a private equity firm based out of New York, became partner and majority investor in the PBR. Randy Bernard, Ty Murray, Tom Teague and all the Directors of the PBR will continue as shareholders. Fifteen of the shareholders are among the elite 45 riders currently on the BFTS tour, which will help preserve the tradition originally started by the cowboys in 1992.

The PBR is headquartered in Pueblo, Colo., and has over 1,200 bull riders competing in more than 300 PBR sanctioned competitions in the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico. PBR currently operates four domestic tours, including the Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Challenger Tour, Enterprise Rent-A-Car Tour and Discovery Tour, and has a rapidly growing presence in international markets, including Brazil, Mexico, Australia and Canada.

PBR competitions can be viewed regularly on its cable channel partner, VERSUS, every Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET.  In addition, the PBR will have eight events televised on the FOX and NBC networks in 2007.

The Professional Bucking Bull ()

Created to provide stock contractors and bucking bull breeders a venue in which to promote their bucking bulls and their bucking bull breeding programs.

The PBBA’s open competitions have no age or registration requirements; If He Bucks…Bring Him.

Competing in PBBA open competitions can help increase a bucking bull’s earning potential and increase their value as a bucking or breeding bull. Bucking bulls that have proven themselves in Professional Bucking Bull Association (PBBA) competitions have been sold to top Professional Bull Riders (PBR) and Championship Bull Riding (CBR) stock contractors, performed at the PBR and CBR Finals and been contenders for the PBR Bucking Bull of the Year. Some breeders and contractors use the PBBA as a proving ground before entering their bulls in American Bucking Bull Inc. (ABBI) or National Bucking Bull Association (NBBA) events. Others have retired from PBBA competitions as breeding bulls.

Whether you have one bucking bull or one hundred; the PBBA’s two tier open competitions, Derby or Futurity are designed to help stock contractors match their bulls against top bull riders and compete against other bulls for top money and awards.
